Years ago someone gave Shyloh a book called "The Princess and the Kiss". I'm sure most of you have already done all your Christmas shopping, but if you still need something for a little girl on your list then I want to recommend this book. This book is so very sweet! The story is about a King and Queen who give their daughter a gift from God, her first kiss, to keep or give away. The Princess saves her kiss for a man worthy of it. This sweet story teaches girls the value of purity. In this day and age, even in the church, we don't always see this. Actually we seldom see it.
This book was huge in shaping Shyloh's thoughts and heart. We have always taught and teach our children the importance of keeping themselves pure until marriage, but Shyloh was so impacted by this book that she felt the Lord wanted her to even save her first kiss until her wedding day. This was not something that we told her she should do, but rather something that came directly from the Lord.
If you have a little girl I would highly recommend this book. We went and bought one for each of our girls so they could have their own book as a keepsake and then read it to their own daughters one day.
When Shyloh first started saying that her first kiss would be on her wedding day Duane and I wondered how that would truly play out in her life. Would she save this and then meet a man who had already given his away and not have these same convictions? As a mom I have prayed for my children's spouses from the time they were very small. Part of my prayer has been for their spouses sexual purity, but to be honest I never prayed about kissing. Since this was so important to Shyloh though I wondered if there was anyone out there that would have not given this gift away already. Then the Lord brings Jeff into Shyloh's life. God is so good and already knew every detail of their sweet relationship. When they became engaged Shyloh and I talked and she said she didn't know if he had ever kissed before, but that God had given her a peace about it and she honestly didn't care. A week or so later Jeff and I were in the kitchen and somehow the topic of them saving their first kiss came up. He shared with me that he too had never kissed so that will make their wedding day all the more special to both of them. Wow! What a blessing to a Mama's heart. God has truly covered every little detail. His fingerprints are all over their relationship!
This conviction all started when a little girl read a very sweet story, all the while the Lord was already writing another sweet story, her love story!

Marni, we have this book also and I adore it. We are already talking to our girls about this and love that we have a "real-life" example in your Shyloh and Jeff, we have enjoyed hearing about the unfolding romance. Hope you are feeling better and that your family had a wonderful Christmas day!
