Today my little guy is 3 weeks old! Why do they have to grow so fast? We are all loving having a baby boy again. The big boys are enjoying their little brother and love to hold him any chance they can get and when they don’t have him then his sister’s are trying to get their time in.
Shiro is such a wonderful baby! He is mellow and peaceful and really only cries when something is really wrong. He is also sleeping really well for his Mama allowing me to feel pretty rested for the most part. I have no complaints except that he is already 3 weeks old! :-(
I haven’t shared his birth story yet as I’ve been too busy enjoying my baby! Here is the short version…
I woke up on Tuesday, May 10th, having mild contractions. Shelbie and I went to the chiro and got adjusted then I spent the rest of the day getting all the last minute things done that I wanted to do before having the baby.
Duane called our midwife around midnight and she headed over. We had the same midwife who delivered Shylie come to labor sit and possibly do another homebirth. We really hadn’t decided what we were going to do and hadn’t felt a real direction or peace from the Lord either way yet.
We labored at home all night and into the next day. I told Duane and the midwife that I was at peace either way, staying home or going in. Up to that point I was really against going to the hospital and really wanted another homebirth. It’s just amazing how the Lord meets us right where we need Him to, when we need Him to! His peace passes all understanding!
We made the decision to go to the hospital around 1:30pm the next day. Everything was trucking along fine but we just felt like going in was the right thing to do. We arrived at the hospital around 1:45. I was completely dilated and ready to go. They broke my water and it was full of meconium. They called the NICU team in to be ready to suction the baby when he was born. He was born at 2:08pm. They suctioned the baby and he was perfect. I had too much bleeding so I did needed something for that.
The Lord is so wonderful! I really hate being at the hospital and was so happy that I didn’t have to labor a long time there. The delivery didn’t go perfectly but God’s grace was perfect! The doctor and nurses were all wonderful! My sweet friend, DeAnna (a.k.a. Aunt DeeDee), came down when she wasn’t even working (she works in labor and delivery) to be there with me and help care for Shiro and I. (I love you my friend!)
The whole experience was great and I’m feeling so very blessed to have another little one to be a Mama to. Shiro is such a blessing to our family! He’s only been with us 3 weeks but yet we couldn’t imagine our family without him!
