Sad kitty day

Shyloh's friend Annie called her last Monday and asked her if she knew of anyone who wanted a kitten. Shyloh called her aunt and asked if they wanted it. She said yes, so Shyloh told Annie to bring the kitten out. Well while the kitten was in route to Shyloh my sister in law spoke with my brother and he said he wasn't ready for another cat yet. (Their little cat was hit by a car a couple of months ago.) When the cat arrived to Shyloh she didn't have a home for it. After calling everyone she could think of to see if they wanted a kitten she reluctantly took the cat to the pound. She knew that her dad didn't want anymore pets so she was trying to honor him. Somehow in that few hours of having him she bonded to him. He had the sweetest little personality that we have ever seen in a small kitten. She cried that night and felt so bad. The next day she called Daddy at work and asked him if he would consider letting her have the kitten. After listening to her "sales" pitch he said okay. Down to the pound she went and paid $52.00 to get a kitten that she had for free the day before! The next day the cat started having diarrea and in a couple more days he starting throwing up. By Saturday he completely quit eating and drinking. By Saturday night when we realized that he was indeed sick and wasn't just having a problem adjusting to the food he was eating the vets were closed. We prayed for him all day Sunday and kept trying to get little bits of water in him with a dropper. The plan was to take him into the vet first thing in the morning. That night we realized that the next day was a holiday so they would still be closed. Yesterday morning he was still walking around but you could tell he was very dehydrated and weak. Shyloh took a nap with him in the afternoon and when she woke up he was clearly in pain. We called the Emergency pet clinic and got him in. He had apparently picked up something from his one night in the pound. By then he was so bad that she couldn't stand to watch him suffer anymore. He would lay completely still and then start writhing in pain and crying and then go still again. It was horrible to watch. She ended up having him put to sleep for another $120.00. Today she is $170.00 short and has a hole in her heart. Please pray for Shyloh when you think of it.

Shyloh, I am so sorry about your sweet kitten. We had one growing up that looked lots like that one. Very sweet. I am praying that you find comfort in our heavenly Father.
