What a couple of weeks this has been for our family! We welcomed a new baby into our family and now we get to announce that Jeff and Shyloh are engaged!
Jeff asked Duane about a week ago if he could propose to Shyloh. Saturday he took her to Monterey with his mom and sister. He proposed to her on the beach. Their relationship actually started on a beach trip with the College and Career group at church. He even got down on his knee to propose! He also had a dozen red roses delivered here for when they came home. What a romantic guy!
So how are we (Dad and Mom) handling this? Well... we're feeling a bit old! No, really we are very happy for them and have spend much time praying over their relationship and feel a total peace about this. With that said though, our emotions are a bit all over the place. We are so blessed with Jeff and how easy he has made this whole process. Our family has truly fallen in love with him! We can't help but be a bit sad though as we realize that our whole family dynamics are changing. We have always known that Shyloh would most likely marry early. The Lord has prepared us for this for years. We are a very close knit family so the thought of our little girl leaving us is a bit challenging. Fortunately, we have a year as they are looking at having a September wedding. We are definitely going to cherish each moment that we have with her. We have blinked and life has gone by so quickly.
Please keep Jeff and Shyloh in your prayers as they plan and prepare for their wedding and spend this next season in their lives preparing to be a godly husband and wife. Duane and I would also love your prayers for us to as we watch our little girl move into this stage in life. Like I have already said, we feel a complete peace about this and there isn't a greater guy for Shyloh than Jeff but we will really miss her. It can be hard to let go even when we know God's fingerprints are all over this.
Shyloh has a little slideshow on her blog that even has pictures of Jeff proposing. She also told how the day went. Hop over and check out her own thoughts on this joyful event! http://shhfamily-shyloh.blogspot.com/
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
