African night

Last night was our once a month African night that Shelbie ordained. Shelbie made us Salade De Concombre A La Menthe (Minted Cucumber Salad), Nkatenkwan (Chicken Peanut Soup), Fufu (Pounded Yam), and Pumpkin Fritters (this was our appetizer).

The salad was gross. Nuff said on that! (Sorry Shelbie! Just being honest!) The soup was served over the Fufu (pounded yam) and wasn’t to bad. I actually liked it. It was just a little bit spicy, but not enough to much to scar any taste buds.

The Pumpkin Fritters were a hit with the little ones. They were pumpkin balls covered with sugar and cinnamon and then deep fried. Between the deep frying and the sugar they certainly weren’t the most healthy things.

Once again we all survived our meal, though once again some left the table just a wee bit hungry. We are so glad that Shelbie is trying this and taking it seriously. We are also so glad the African night is only once a month!!pregnancy 001
