21 years…oh my!

IMG_6572Duane and I celebrated our 21st anniversary last week. It’s crazy to think that we have been together that long and we’re only 29! Happy

We haven’t gotten away for our anniversary for the last several years so this year we made sure we did. The boys went and stayed with my brother and sister in love and the girls camped out at home and had a girls night, Shyloh even stayed over with them.

We went to Monterey for the night. We spent time doing some shoe shopping for me. (This is for a whole other post! They are awesome!) I’ve had gift cards for a while and really wanted a certain pair of shoes but we don’t have anywhere around here that sells them so we took advantage of the fact that there were some stores there that carried them.

We had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant that sits over the beach. We were blessed with a window seat to watch all the sea life and stare at the waves crashing against the shore. Much of dinner’s conversation was about the kids. It’s hard to chat about them at home with all the interruptions!

The next day we went to the aquarium. Since we are members there we were able to see the new jelly fish exhibit before everyone else…don’t be to jealous, it was nothing spectacular! lol The entire time at the aquarium we kept talking about how much we wished the kids were with us. It just wasn’t the same by ourselves, though it was nice to not have to keep counting little heads the whole time walking through the crowds!

After the aquarium we drove down the coast to a beach we take the kids too. We checked out the tide pools and ran from the waves a bit but it just wasn’t the same without the whole family. Shiro really didn’t like having his feet put in the cold water but he did really want to get his little hands in the sand!

We decided that we need to find a new place to go for our anniversaries. Some where that just the two of us go.  Going somewhere that we usually go with the kids made us really miss them! We had a fun time away, we enjoyed some quiet talks and no interruptions, we also enjoyed having some one on one time with just Shiro, but we were so happy to pull back into our driveway and be back home.

It’s a wonderful thing to have time to recharge our batteries and focus on each other. I’m so blessed to have been able to marry my best friend and have him by my side these last 21 years!
