Tomorrow is Shannen's 8th birthday! I was so shocked when he was born and the doctor said it was a boy. I was completely convinced I was having another girl. I was so excited for Shayden to have a brother with 3 big sisters above him.
Tonight we had a little birthday party for him. My in-laws came, our nephew and his sweet girlfriend, and of course Aunt DeAnna and the girls. It was small and relaxing but so much fun. Shannen likes High School Musical so we decorated accordingly and Shyloh made him a cd of all the High School Musical songs which we played outside all evening. The kids all swam. We barbecued some hotdogs and then made homeade icecream. The icecream was probably the funnest. We used a fun recipe from a book called Kid Concoctions. We took sandwhich size baggies and put half -n- half, sugar, and vanilla in them. Those were then put in a gallon size bag with ice and rock salt. Then the fun part...shake, shake, shake. We all ended up dancing around the backyard to Shannen's new cd shaking our icecream. I hope our neighbors didn't look over the fence! In 10 minutes we had icecream, and it was actually really yummy!
I think all the kids will sleep really well tonight! I know I will!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET SHANNEN! WE LOVE YOU!Nothing is like summer than barbecued hotdogs and fresh watermelon.
Shaking up the icecream and dancing to High School Musical.
Okay...even the big girls got into it! Actually they probably enjoyed it the most!
Ricky and Lucy didn't like the excitement. When the kids started shaking the icecream they hopped on the bench and wouldn't move. They just watched very nervously.
Even Grammy got into the fun! Maybe she was the one who actually liked it the most!
Poppet and Daddy shaking icecream.
Eating the fruit of their labor.
