How do these three things go together? Well, when you have a very busy preschooler and toddler in the house they can easily go together.
I made a new batch of soap on Wednesday and hadn't yet put my little box of supplies away. Yesterday Poppet and Lolly took the box off the counter and went into the boys room to check it out. When they do something naughty that they know they shouldn't be doing they usually go somewhere in the back of the house. (It is interesting how even as little ones they already have that sense of right and wrong. Don't ever use the excuse on me, "they are only little". Blah!) Lolly comes walking out of the boys room with burgundy coloring all over her body and smelling really good, like chai tea with a mix of tahitian vanilla. I looked at her and immediately recognized the smell. I called Poppet because they are usually into things together. She comes out looking and smelling quite the same way. I asked her to show Shyloh where the box was and she lead her to the boys room. Shyloh comes back with a very empty box of supplies and tells me that the boys room is a huge mess.(She was excited though that the boys room now had such a pleasant smell and not that stinky little boy smell. It still smells wonderful today too!) They wiped out my powder coloring, which was all over Shayden's quilt and the carpet, and emptied out all but one of my fragrances. So now your wondering how the vacuum and carpet cleaner come in or by now you are figuring it on your own.
After my little mischievous munchkins were stripped down and cleaned up I asked Shannen to grab the vacuum and vacuum up the powder all over their floor. It ended up spreading all over the floor and staining the bottom of the vacuum. The vacuum cleaner could no longer be used in any other room of the house because it would keep spreading the coloring.
Thankfully we bought the vacuum at Costco. I love that place and their wonderful return policy! For years I never returned things there, but my best friend's husband who works there encouraged me a few years back to return an item I had bought there several years before and it had quit working. I thought I was out of luck, but he explained to me that they just write it off so they don't end up losing out on anything! I didn't believe it until he pushed me to try it. Now any big purchases I need to make, we make there!
So, I dug out my receipt and we headed to Costco. I was prepared to humbly explain what had happen as I was sure they would ask when they saw the yellow beater bar was now burgandy, but I didn't even have to! The sweet little gal took my receipt, asked me if I wanted cash or store credit, then told us to have a nice day when she was done! Wow! Did I already say I love that place?
So, right now I am taking a much needed break from cleaning the boys carpet. It looks pretty good so far, but I will probably need to go over it a few more times. I have already been working on that one area for an hour. I should have taken a before and after picture, but I was too busy seeing red yesterday, or should I say burgundy.
Thankfully I have a new vacuum cleaner now, and my carpet cleaner came from Costco too, just in case it can't handle this job, (fortunately it seems fine) and the Lord has used this to remind me once again why it is so important to keep my little chicks tucked close under Mama's wings and watchful eyes! What sweet faces! Do they look that mischievous?
