Shelbie was scheduled to be in Zambia from April to September, but due to some safety issues she flew home only a month into her trip and was planning on returning in June with the rest of the interns. She was very confused as to why God would allow this and call her home when her heart was so deeply attached to the children in Zambia. Only a couple weeks into her being home we have discovered part of the Lord’s plan. Our sweet niece, Alicia, who Duane donated a kidney to only 5 years ago, was hospitalized. A week later Alicia passed away.
What we didn’t see, the Lord did. It has been so nice having Shelbie home during this time and she even had the privilege of being at the hospital when Alicia passed. She feels like the Lord wants her here this summer to be available to her grandparents and family during this grieving process.
While we know this is only “part” of the Lord’s plan for her this summer we are trusting the Lord with the rest of the details and truly enjoying having her home with us for now.
