This week our church had Vacation Bible School. My children look forward to this all year. Our church always does an amazing job. We are so blessed to have special people with an incredible vision for this. They put huge amounts of time into preparing for this.
Shelbie and Shaylah were on the worship team again this year. The team starts practicing about 4 months before. The songs are always so much fun and my children sing them throughout the rest of the year.
This year was a bit different for Shyloh as she is working this year and couldn't serve everyday like she has done in years past. It still worked out well though as they had a new position this year that was a bit more flexible. She worked in the sound booth for the elementary teaching time. She was able to be at the church everyday, but two of the days she had to leave to be to work by 9:30. We actually worked out a wonderful carpooling schedule with the family that Shyloh works for. It was so nice to not have to run back and forth everyday!
Shelbie was an aide in the 1st grade class and loved it! After the worship team was done she would rush to the bathroom to change her clothes and then head to her little class. She loves serving with the younger kids.
Shaylah down through Shadd each attended their own class. Daily they would come home and sit and share all the exciting details of the day. There was so much chatter everyday when they came home. This was Shaylah's last year actually attending VBS. VBS only goes through 6th grade so next year Shaylah will get the priviledge of serving.
Two of the mornings I took Poppet and Lolly to watch the morning worship and skit. They absolutely LOVED it! Next year Poppet gets to go and Shelbie has already said she wants to serve in her class. All morning yesterday Poppet walked around singing one of the songs she had heard during worship.
What a wonderful week for the children that attend. They learned all about Haiti this year, raised money to buy soccer balls for the children in Africa,(they will be signing the balls with words of encouragement and prayer) had a canned food drive, learned some wonderful new songs, and did fun crafts every day! Best of all every year more children make the decision to ask the Lord into their hearts!
Tomorrow will be a much needed sleep in day for us. I am really praying that Lolly lets me sleep until 8:00!
