Never a dull moment!

Well, I was supposed to spend my morning shopping and packing for our camping trip this weekend, but plans changed quickly. Poppet found some little beads on the floor in the girls room and tried to put them in her ears like earrings. She watches the girls put in earrings and didn't quite get the fact that they have "pierced" ears and don't just put the earrings in their ear canals. I saw her digging at her ear and asked her what she was doing and she told me that she had put two beads in her ear. I couldn't see anything from just looking in her ear, but after laying her down and getting a flashlight I could see further down and low and behold there really was a bead! It was too deep for me to be comfortable with trying to get it out myself so we called the doctor. He got us in right away, but once he looked at it he said he didn't have the instruments to get that far down and he would have to send us to an ear, nose, and throat doctor. I was so bummed. I didn't want to have to go there myself, but I was so worried about how Poppet would do. I thought that would be so much more scary and also I was concerned with how bad that would hurt her. The doctor saw my concern and said if I wanted he could try to flush it out. He didn't know if it would work, but was willing to give it a try. I opted to try that first. He worked on her for a bit to no avail. I was feeling at that point that a trip to the E.N.T was inevitable, but he looked again and thought it may have moved a bit. He decided to give it one more try. After a few more minutes out came a little crystal bead! He checked her ear again and said that he didn't see anything. Poppet had been saying she put two beads in her ear so Dr. Watson asked her again how many beads she put in her ear. This time she said, "uummm, one??" So we really don't know if it was one or two. Now she is sticking to the story of one bead. Time will tell if there is another one that was pushed further down. Eventually, her ear would probably start smelling or getting infected. Hopefully we are bead free!
Shyloh asked her later if she wanted earrings to which Poppet said very emphatically, "NO, when I grow up I'll have earrings and a necklace!" So much for getting much done today! Oh well, this is just another of "Life's Little Moments". We just need to bend when the wind blows!

We didn't have a camera with us so Shyloh snapped a couple of pictures with my phone to show Daddy. Doesn't she look so sad? She was ringing her little hands together and very nervous.

This was when Dr.Watson and his nurse were flushing her ear. She sat so good. I'm sure it helped that we told her she could have a piece of Shyloh's candy in her car when we were done!
